Both You and Your Teachers Must Follow Minnesota State University, Mankato Policies and Procedures

Your teachers provide you with what you need for success. You provide the rest as you seek success for yourself. See below for teacher and student responsibilities.

Teachers must:

  • Provide a syllabus for the class detailing assignments and timelines.
  • Ensure all students have everything they need for success in the class.
  • Make themselves available to help students with questions.
  • Offer clear instructions for assignments.
  • Provide an email address that students can use to write the teacher.
  • Answer questions thoroughly and in a timely manner.
  • Arrange meetings with students who require more time for guidance.
  • Allow time for homework assignments.
  • Provide clear feedback on class homework.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with students.

Students must:

  • Complete all assignments on time.
  • Read class material and ask questions if information proves unclear.
  • Attend class regularly.
  • Communicate with the teacher and other class mates.
  • Practice good time management.
  • Maintain professional behavior while in class.
  • Behave respectfully and courteously toward others.
  • Collaborate with others when assigned to a team.
  • Have all technological equipment necessary to attend class and do assignments.
  • Attend all meetings required by the teacher or groups for assignments.
  • Sign up for meetings when offered.
  • Check MavMail and D2L on a regular basis (recommended daily).
